What I’m watching and reading:

  • I watched Defending Jacob on Apple +. Have you seen it? It was a series with only one season. I believe it was based on a book. I enjoyed it. Here’s the description: After a shocking crime rocks a small town, an assistant district attorney finds himself torn between his sworn duty to uphold the law and his unconditional love for his son.
  • I’m still listening to the audiobook of They Both Die at the End (it’s a good one). You should also check out my sister Susie’s Spring Preview of 20 spring releases in books!

Must Make Recipes

Fun Recipes I’ve spotted on the internet this week:

personal updates

Here’s what’s going on in my life:

  • I’ve been in Dallas this week visiting with my son Brooks. It’s his LAST fraternity Mom’s weekend before he graduates in May, so I just couldn’t miss it. He’s had a wonderful time going to college at SMU. He has met great friends, and I’ve made great friends with his friends’ Moms too! We’ve been going to awesome Dallas restaurants and hanging out at college bars. I sure have fallen in love with Dallas over the last few years!

Food News

Catch up on food-related news of the week:

  • New cookbook release: Here is a cookbook you must have (I just got it in the mail last week!) >> Everyday Grand: Soulful Recipes for Celebrating Life’s Big and Small Moments by Jocelyn Delk Adams. Jocelyn is a fellow blogging friend of mine, and she’s an amazing cook and baker. You may have seen her on The Today Show! From the book: Each flavor-packed recipe suggests a reason to celebrate, a reminder that events big and small can have a moment of culinary gratitude. Try the Georgia Peach Salad with Candied Pecans and Cornbread Croutons on that perfect summer day or the Mojito-Marinated Skirt Steak with Chimichurri for a backyard date night (BYO blanket and bubbly). Or enjoy a Southern Sunday supper of spicy Hot Sauce Chipotle-Fried Chicken and whip up the Turkey and Mustard Greens Enchiladas to deliver to your bestie “just because.” Don’t forget gooey Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies for a really good hair day (because yes, you deserve to celebrate this!).
  • People are going nuts over Costco’s 5-pound Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie!
  • The new Frank’s Red Hot Sauce is for pickle lovers!
  • Here are 7 Classic Spice Blends You Should Use More Often.

Products I'm Loving

Products I’m loving:

  • Need a gift for a little girl? This watermelon tote bag is super cute.
  • If you like turquoise, here’s a pretty necklace.
  • Look for the Harry & David Farmstand Gift Basket at Costco. Great gift!
  • Love this planter with the tiny heart!
  • These travel plates are so fun!
  • Look for Cinnamon Bun- Inspired Jo Jo’s (cookies) at Trader Joe’s. YUM!
  • This robotic cat seems kind of weird, but it’s not so weird to older folks living alone who are not able to have a pet. We have a friend who has one, and she just loves it. Great for people with dementia too.

Time to Bake

Bake some muffins to have for breakfast this week

  • Peanut Butter- Banana Muffins have banana and peanut butter in them and a sprinkle of chocolate chips too.  They’re the perfect treat for weekend baking– because then you’ll get to eat them for breakfast whenever you want in the weeks to come.
  • Apple- Cinnamon Muffins are wonderful because they have a delicious layer of crumb on the tops.  If you’re anything like me, I like to eat the crumbly top before I devour the rest of the muffin!
  • Bakery Style Blueberry Muffins are the next best thing to eating muffins in a really good breakfast restaurant!
