This is the next instalment in our blog series where we choose seven fantastic items for summer. All the patterns can be worn together and are interchangeable. I’ve created a video where I talk through them all and how they can be worn together. Although I am currently wearing a jumper I hear that the sun is on the way!
Let’s meet the patterns:
These are the seven sewing patterns that we have chosen.
- First up we have the Esti co-ord set from Tilly and the Buttons – this is such a versatile pattern that has so many variations that it is making the base of our capsule wardrobe. It’s also perfect if you are in the beginner camp!
- Noomi Denim Jacket from Bara Studio – the British summer calls for a jacket. Am I right?! Well the Noomi jacket is one to check out, a mix of a denim jacket and a workwear jacket it’s a really useful item that can work with lots of things, making it a perfect pattern for a capsule.
- Bedrock Tee from Sew Liberated – my favourite t-shirt pattern, fitted around the bust and slightly flared from the waist. There are three variations including a tank, long-sleeved top and a standard tee.
- Kaya Dress from Fibre Mood – a super simple sew that can be made midi length or short. It works really well as a layering piece or can be worn on it’s own. This would also work well trans-seasonally so it could take you through to autumn.
- Alea Shirt and Dress from Marsha Style – this is a lovely pattern, make it as a shirt or a shirt dress it’s a wardrobe staple and will never go out of style.
- Rachel Skirt from I AM Patterns – is another fantastic simple sew. It comes in three length options and has a slit up the side.
- Costermonger Tote from Merchant & Mills – Everyone needs a bag to hide all their snack and I love that this pattern can be used as a tote as well as a rucksach. If you don’t want to source all the hardware there is a kit for this too – hurrah!
How to wear them together:
So we’ve picked the pattern now it’s time to think about how to wear them together. There were so many variations for these patterns but here are a few of my favourite. Enjoy!
