Sleek stretch suit + my everyday black pumps

AnnTaylor Hermes Outfits Suiting Winter

Ann Taylor trousers 00P c/o, blazer 00P c/o, suede pumps 5 (love!), similar pearl studs

As some of you know I used to heavily favor skirts, but have enjoyed experimenting more and more with pants in various silhouettes lately! One of my all time favorite cuts that I’ve mentioned several times is still the Madison pant at Ann Taylor which has a classic high rise, gently flaring trouser leg, and an inseam that works on me with my standard high heels. For something a little different (and that’s slightly shorter in length, which works with my lower heels), I recently discovered these very flattering sailor flare trousers for a twist on traditional suiting.

Sailor Flare Trousers

You can’t tell in photos, but these are made of a stretchy medium weight knit twill that’s very comfortable but still looks professional. The stretch material hugs the curves (the rear view gets a thumbs up too – see photo at bottom) yet are not too fitted on me. I also love how these are styled with black booties in the stock image! Edit regarding color: These photos were taken in overcast conditions, and I would say the true color falls in between the online stock photos and in my photos.

The waist sizing on both the Madison and Sailor style pants are TTS for Ann Taylor, so if you typically need to alter the waist of bottoms from the brand, then that may still apply here. Due to the stretch of the sailor trousers, though, I found them to fit a tad better than typical AT pants. Measurements of size 00 petite: 12.75″ across the waist, 9″ rise, 28.5″ inseam.

Azra suede pumps

I’m thrilled to share these pumps were just fully restocked, in both black and a new taupe color! I originally got these last year and they are easily my go-to everyday black pumps. The sculpted, straight across front and deep side V cut are flattering on the legs, and help elevate an everyday shoe with a slightly more modern cut. Fit is TTS – I took my usual size 5 for Ann Taylor pumps.

Hutton Blazer in Stretch Twill

I wanted to point out this blazer as it’s actually the exact same material as the bottoms and can work together as a petite pant suit. It’s not marketed as coordinates, though, and the buttons are in a different style (tortoise on the blazer versus black with gold edges on the pants). This jacket has stretch and fits me fairly slim-fit throughout the shoulder and sleeves, but the torso has a few inches of room at my waist. One quick fix that my tailor used to do for single-button blazers is shift the button over 1,” rather than having to open up the lining to take in the torso along the back darts or two sides. Measurements of size 00 petite: 14″ across the shoulders, 15″ across the waist, 22.5″ sleeve length, 24″ length. Both the jacket and pants are listed as machine washable!

If you missed my recent AT try-ons post, several of the sale finds I shared have sizes that popped back in stock. Both pieces below are now stocked in xxs / 00 petite again and on sale with code MYSTERY.
