I am SO excited to finally be sharing one of the dresses I ordered from Sika Designs! Back in June, I mentioned this brand when sharing some new-to-me Black-owned businesses I planned to support and buy from going forward. I fell head over heels in love with these unique silhouettes and fabulous prints! While the label is based in London, the brand is inspired by Ghana which is where each piece is made by hand. Sika’s unique, colorful fabrics have all been selected from Ghanain markets, and the silhouettes are a great mix of classic tailoring with modern details. Per usual, my favorites feature a very fitted waist and loose-skirt like this Luna dress! Aren’t the colors incredible?! I adore the wide band at the waist for a super slimming look. The ruffled sleeves are such a fun touch too! If a maxi dress isn’t your jam, you could easily shorten it into a midi or above-the-knee hem at your tailor. I’m 5’9 and this dress is floor-length on me, which works if I’m wearing flat sandals – to wear it with heels, I’d probably need to shorten it to a midi style.

The reason it took me so long to share this dress? I ordered the wrong size. I normally am a 4 or 6 in dresses (and I wear a 34D), so I originally ordered a UK10 (US 6). Sadly I couldn’t zip it up! I reached out to the brand via their Instagram to see if I could ship the dresses I ordered back in exchange for a larger size, and they graciously allowed it! I don’t think they usually do returns or exchanges, so at least I made the mistake so you guys can order correctly on your first try. Sika sent me a UK 12 (US 8) and it fits me PERFECTLY. It feels like this dress was made for my body! I’m so so happy with it and will absolutely be ordering more pieces from Sika Designs now that I officially know my size. The quality is amazing and all of the pieces are 100% cotton! The other dress I initially ordered is this Beeko style – it’s shipping to me this week, so I’ll report back on the fit of that dress!

Below are some of the other silhouettes I’m loving from their site, but check out everything here! So many magnificent prints and silhouettes to choose from. That green printed minidress would be so lovely for the fall season. Can you even with that drapes off-shoulder neckline?! Swoon.
