Check out these wine tasting outfit ideas for fall. One of the best parts of fall is visiting wineries in your area. But, what do you wear to a wine tasting? It’s not as simple as just wearing a nice outfit. You need to consider the type of event, time of day, and whether it’s indoors or outdoors.
I’ve created this guide that will help you choose the best wine tasting outfit.
Wine Tasting Outfit Ideas for Fall
If you’re attending a wine tasting at a winery, there will most likely be other events taking place that day. You’ll want to plan your outfit accordingly so you don’t have to worry about changing outfits multiple times throughout the day. Wear something you can easily move around in or put together something that can transition from the event to dinner or cocktails afterward.
If you’re going to a wine tasting, it’s important to dress so that you feel comfortable and look like you know what you’re talking about. It’s generally considered best to wear something casual but not overly casual.
Wear clothes that cover your arms and legs, but don’t wear anything too tight or revealing. For men, button-down shirts are perfect for dressing up, and a blazer is also an option. For women, light blouses and skirts that stop below the knees work well. A dress may seem formal enough if it has short sleeves or doesn’t cling in an uncomfortable way.
A wine tasting outfit should be comfortable and casual. Wine tastings are typically done outside, so wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather. When looking for wine tasting outfit ideas for fall, keep in mind the temperature.
Keep in mind what time of day the event is taking place. Will it be held during peak sunlight or towards dusk? Asking yourself this question can help you determine the appropriate shade of lipstick and what types of accessories you should wear.
Daytime wine tasting outfit ideas
If the wine tasting is taking place during peak sunlight, a great choice for women would be a solid dress or skirt. An oversized printed shirt layered over another top works well too. Your outfit still looks put together but it’s more comfortable than a dress. The layers will allow you to cool off as the day heats up.
I love the dresses at Karina Dresses. They are stylish and comfortable.
Evening wine tasting outfit ideas
Wine tastings that are held in the evening should look more elegant and formal than daytime events. Some options for women include a floral or pleated skirt paired with a flowy top, a pencil skirt with a fun blouse, or a cocktail dress. You could even wear your favorite sundress if it’s long enough to find some coverage for your legs as the sun goes down.
Outdoor wine tasting outfit ideas
If you plan to spend the majority of time outside at the wine tasting, be sure to pay attention to what others are wearing so you don’t end up overdressed. Typically, jeans and a nice shirt will do the trick but if everyone else is in dress code, you might need to rethink your outfit.
If you’re attending an outdoor event, there is nothing wrong with dressing a bit more casual depending on what everyone else is doing. Don’t show up in jeans and a t-shirt if everyone around you is in suits but feel free to dress down from your typical work attire.
For women: A great option is to wear a maxi dress with some fun accessories such as oversized sunnies or boots that will cover up some of your skin from sun exposure.
For men: A nice pair of jeans, good shoes, and a button-up or polo shirt is a great outfit for tasting wine in the sun. As the sun starts to set, opt for a long sleeve shirt that you can take off as it cools down.
What to wear in wine country
Wear a button-down or blouse with a nice pair of jeans or slacks to look classy but not too dressy. A dress or skirt with a jean jacket and cowboy boots can look casual without being too casual. You will probably be both indoors and out during the day.
And, your wine tasting may include visiting the vineyards. This means that comfortable practical shoes are an absolute must. Wear closed-toe shoes that will keep you from slipping on the ground and protect your feet if there’s rain in the forecast.
If you’re looking for plus-size wine tasting outfits, Kiyonna is one of my favorite stores.
What do you wear to a wine and cheese tasting?
Consult your invitation. A wine and cheese tasting often indicates a more formal affair. A little black dress is always an excellent choice for a cocktail party or formal event. Throw on a colorful cardigan and accessories so you can stand out from the crowd, but don’t forget to pack opaque tights in case it’s chilly outside!
Remember that you can always add some fun jewelry like statement earrings, a large necklace, or bracelets to make your outfit stand out from all the rest.
Can I wear jeans to a wine tasting?
If you are a wine lover, there is no better way to explore the vineyards than in your finest denim. It may seem like an unlikely choice but jeans can be just as appropriate at tastings and dinner parties. If you’re looking for wine tasting outfit ideas for fall, denim is definitely an option.
The climate of Napa Valley varies greatly so it’s always best to bring along a sweater or light jacket that will keep you warm during morning sessions and cold evenings! Don’t forget rings, watches, necklaces – anything you want to show off!
What do I need for a wine tour?
So you’ve planned a perfect wine tasting afternoon, but what goes in your bag? Don’t forget these essentials to make sure that the rest of your day is enjoyable and comfortable.
- Large tote
- Portable charger
- Sunscreen if it’s outside
- Refillable water bottle
- Sunglasses or a hat
- Comfortable shoes
- Snacks
I hope this article has helped you feel more confident about what to wear to a wine tasting event. If there are any events coming up for the rest of the year, I would love to know how it goes and if my advice was helpful!
