February can be a tough month

Fashion Recent SocialDistancing

You know that spring is coming, but it’s still cold so you’re still in sweaters. I always have a hard time with outfits in February since I’m starting to get reallllly tired of my clothes. As you know if you read this post, I’ve been using Trunk Club for the last 4-ish months. I really like it because they send things that I generally wouldn’t try on or be drawn to initially, but I end up really liking because someone made me try it on!

This month, I’ve worn lots of jeans (my new favorites being a Madewell pair) and booties.

Most of my Spring outfits for this month would fall into the casual category since I now work from home and you likely do too ;).

Here they are!
Spring Outfits
This wrap jacket came in my most recent Trunk Club box. I doubt I would have put it in my cart or tried it on if i was shopping in person, but I actually loved it when I tried it on. I like the brown/camel color that transitions well into spring. It’s also lightweight so that works well in this transitional season as well. I tried it with a white top and a black tee and really liked both. The jeans I’m wearing in these two photos are my new favorites. They’re called the Petite Perfect Vintage Jean and fit like mom-jeans. I like the raw hem at the bottom and the looser fit. I’m used to wearing skinny jeans most days so these have been a really nice change in my closet. (You can see more non-skinny jeans I’ve added to my wardrobe lately in this post!)

It dresses down well too!

This blouse came in my box too, and I paired it with those great Madewell jeans again. The blouse is loosely fitted and really lightweight. It makes me think of resort-wear. I think it might be a little too big on me, but I’m still deciding if I like the loose fitting top idea. Might be fun with some skinny jeans. The sleeves were definitely too long on me so I sent it back!

This outfit is a great staple for me in the winter months. It’s been raining like crazy here in Winston Salem, so these little Chelsea rain boots have been a real lifesaver. This sweater is the softest cashmere and makes me feel so cozy. I’m wearing my trusty Spanx faux leather leggings here too which automatically make me feel more dressed up. There are only a few more chilly days here so this sweater will soon be tucked away! But, these leggings and booties get worn all year long.

This black top is a real winner in my closet because it goes with so much. I’ve had it for a long time and the exact one is no longer available, so I linked a really similar option. The Madewell jeans are back for this outfit as well, and below you can see what they look like from the side/behind. I loveee them.

You’ve seen this sweater in an outfits roundup post before, but like most things in my closet, I’ve worn it a lot! A few things I really like about it: 1. It’s cropped, so it looks really good with high waisted jeans and elongates my torso. 2. It has a sort of ribbed pattern/texture which is different than any of the other sweaters in my closet. I’m wearing it with my Madewell jeans and Sam Edelman loafers (which are amazing, btw).

Now this is a little bit more spring-timey! I love wearing colored pants, and you’ll see more of them as the months warm up. These red jeans are so fun, and elevate any basic top. I’m wearing my go-to chambray shirt as well, which makes everything more comfortable. I’ve had this top for the longest time and wear it every season –– seriously. The heeled booties were a pick from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this past August and I’ve really liked them. They have a pointed toe and zip up the side.

Top | Jeans | Booties
This pale pink sweater is so incredibly soft and since it has some cutouts, it works well even into spring. I’m wearing it black skinny jeans that I got from Madewell and absolutely love. They have a little bit of stretch but they’re nothing like wearing jeggings. These black booties came in my Trunk Club and they felt amazing as soon as I put them on. Such a win!

This turtleneck sweater is the same as the one linked in a photo above but tucked. The jeans in this photo are Good American and they have perfect amount of stretch to them. (I find they run large so size down.) These boots are old, but I’ve linked a similar pair below.

How fun is this skirt?! I love the cheetah print but it comes in multiple other patterns and colors. It pairs perfectly with a dark denim jacket and black top here. These booties were in my Trunk Club shipment and are already proving to be a closet staple. I worn this when we were shopping for a bed frame (no luck) but the small cross body bag was perfect for stashing shopping snacks. (If you’ve been to Furniture Land South, you understand.)

This outfit is the same, but I swapped the denim jacket for a blazer to show how it could work for the office.  I love how versatile this skirt is.

And another photo without the blazer. This skirt is just too good!

Black on black is one of my favorite combos! This blouse is great because it has a really pretty gold pattern on it that shows up when it hits light. It’s pretty subtle, but it adds a lot to an otherwise simple top. I’m wearing it with my favorite black jeans. And of course, my all time favorite loafers ever by Sam Edelman. (I have them in cognac and black!)

This dress also came in my last Trunk Club box and I love how different it is from anything else in my closet. It has this unique cinch in the waist and the color is great for the transition into spring. The length is perfect too!

Dress
This striped top is so cozy on brisk spring days – it’s old from Oiselle but they STILL Make it four years after I bought it. It’s that’s good! I don’t wear too many pairs of jeans with rips in them (who else’s dad makes fun of them for paying for rips?) but these are great. I like the cropped length and I love the affordable price point on them!

Can you tell the weather has been confusing in Winston Salem? One day it’s 80 and the next it’s 50. This is my go-to jacket and you have definitely seen it if you follow me on social media. It’s Patagonia and so lightweight but warm. These leggings are a fun take on basic black leggings. I like having a little pattern!

This is a really old top from Oiselle but this one is similar. These are great skinny jeans, super basic and I love the dark wash. But let me talk about the shoes. Have you tried All-birds? I swear to you, I have never put something so comfortable on my feet before. They’re pretty warm, but they don’t make my feet sweat, and they’re this really soft material that feels super appropriate for jeans and other outfits, not just shorts! I wouldn’t work out in them, but they are the perfect shoe for all the walks I’m taking every day!

Almost the exact same shirt, with bigger stripes and navy instead of tan! This one is in stock!

When I first got this headband in my Trunkclub box, I was not into it at all. In fact, I’m still trying to figure out if it’s really my thing or not, what do you think? I really love cheetah print but and this trend looks so cute on so many people but when I put it on I felt like I was back in middle school. (Lots of people on Instagram said I need to put all my hair behind it but that looked worse!) But hey, you know I love this J.Crew v-neck – I have the same shirt in probably every color that they offer. These are the Madewell ‘mom jeans‘ that I have been obsessing over, and a Madewell belt paired with it.

If I had to guess, during your quarantine time, only the top half of your outfit look something like this, right? I wore this tweed blazer to dinner with friends a few weeks ago and it also works well for the office, when those days return. I paired with the red pop-over shirt which I got a ton of wear out of in 2019. Also, I love this new tote. I have been carrying the same leather tote bag for so long that it was time for an upgrade. I love the pattern on this one.

Yeah, so this top is fitting. If you’re anything like me, people that are not taking #SocialDistancing seriously need to be better. I love the relaxed fit of the shirt and while I’m not normally into wearing to graphic tees, this one feels appropriate and fun. I’m wearing it with casual ripped jeans which I really love and comfortable cheetah print loafers. It’s a great basic outfit for the day-to-day.

Top | Jeans | Shoes
Now this is a little bit more like what my real outfits look like every day while I’m staying home. I’m wearing this cozy long cardigan paired with a simple white blouse. I like the neutral colors together and this is definitely comfortable enough to stay in all day. I’m also wearing my favorite faux leather Spanx leggings and of course my UGG slippers. How could you go wrong? I definitely believe you need to get ready when you work from home, but slippers are okay in my book.

Did you hear the good news? I’ve started running again! Right now it’s a run-walk, but I am so happy to be back on the roads. This outfit is almost all old and not in stock anymore, but I linked my favorite similar pieces under the photo. Wearing bright colors has been keeping me sane. Also, it’s been SO fun to see so many people on the roads these days being active.

Top | Shorts | Shoes
This is the red pop-over shirt I was talking about earlier! I love how bright the color is. It brightens my day every time I wear it! These are the jeans you’ve seen in the photos above as well. I think they are the perfect wash. You also may have noticed that I’m wearing these Sam Edelman loafers in most of these outfits. As soon as it was too warm for booties, these have been my first shoe choice. They’re SO comfortable right out of the box!

Top | Jeans | Shoes | Clutch
When the weather was WARM and not raining a few Fridays ago, I movedout of my co-working space. With everything with the virus, it felt like the right move. I’m working from home now and love it. These jean shorts are perfect for the spring/summer. I love how they fit and I like the stretch they have. Highly recommend!

Top | Shorts | Shoes | Bag

Shoes
These heels came in my recent Trunk Club box and I think they are SO cool. I can picture them with a black dress for a formal event, can’t you? I bought them for a conference I was speaking at but that got cancelled. So maybe I just need to wear them around the house?

Heels
These are one last pair of shoes I’m loving this month. They are sold out in the black, but i have something even better for you: the cheetah print version. You’re welcome! I love the wooden heel.
