SCRUB A DUB...Whew B*TCH, I hate dishes!

This is just a rant about how much I am not liking all these dishes that keep magically appearing in my kitchen sink, on my stove and on my countertops.

I get it! I am cooking more, but who TF is dirtying all these dishes?! It can’t only be me. I refuse to believe this.

Me looking at the dirty dishes in my sink wondering how they got in my house.

Outfit: Tracee Ellis Ross for JC Penney Robe Jacket, H&M navy jumpsuit and Zara printed mini scarf.

Outside of quarantine, I cooked about once or twice a week. This meant that I’d have to wash dishes on two days at the most, with the exception of a glass or plate I used. I would wash as I cooked, that way I wouldn’t have a pile of dishes at the end of the day. Welllllllllll all of that has changed with the lockdown. I no longer feel inclined to wash dishes after every meal, especially when I’m now cooking everyday. If I did that, I would be doing dishes twice a day and ain’t nobody got time for that! Well I kinda do, but it’s still a hard NO!

On an average day I cook/prepare at least one meal from scratch, for either brunch or dinner. At least 4 days out of the week I test recipes. I cook 2 meals a day and everyday I am stuck with a mountain of dishes, that no one is coming to clean up. Where are the gnomes?! Send in the gnomes!

Yes, yes, yes, I have heard it a million times from my friends and family that I should use plates BUT 1. I don’t want to and 2. When I plate my BEET ME DOWN SALAD on a paper plate, I know you will all side eye me and wonder, what is happening over there in my household? So, no. I am not going to use paper plates. Yes, I will still complain about the dishes, lol.

I’ve figured out the best way to handle this without making myself crazy, is keep my cooking schedule, and as I go soak any dishes that need soaking. I leave them all until about 9 pm at night and do one big wash. I know it won’t get any less annoying, but I’m trying to be patient with this. I never leave dishes in the sink to avoid roaches etc, but I will admit to clearing out the bottom shelf of my refrigerator and stuffing dirty dishes in there, until the next day.

I love cooking, I really do. I love plating a beautiful dish, but MY GOD I need a dishwasher, or somebody gonna get a hurt real bad. If I see 50-11 more dishes in this kitchen, I might scream. I’d make one pot dishes everyday if I could, but life is just not that easy. If you have a solution to having less dishes that don’t involve paper plates, please send them my way.

If you too are also struggling with dirty dishes, (this sounds like a mesothelioma ad lol) I don’t know what to tell you, but I hope you find some peace around this because honey, we are in for the long hawl 😑.

Thank you for reading. Please respect my privacy during this very difficult time.
