Where To Find Perth’s Best Steaks, As Voted By You

In the high stakes game of all things grilled, Perth boasts some serious winners that won’t disappoint when the need for an iron fix hits.

Charred and crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside; sometimes, there’s really nothing better than a good steak. Here’s where to eat some of Perth’s best steaks, as voted by you, our loyal little meat lovers.

Nextdoor

South Perth

So named because it's an offshoot of the butcher next door, this South Perth restaurant is the definition of a butcher to plate experience. Their juicy steak has to be one of our favourites at the moment, and many of you agree. We suggest you tuck into your wagyu scotch fillet at the fire bar so you can sit up close and watch the chefs work over the open flame.

Fibber McGee's Irish Pub & Steakhouse

Leederville

Fibber McGee’s owns and operates their own certified organic farm in Perth Hills where they raise their own cattle, and also dry age, butcher and cure their own meat in house, so no wonder their steaks are some of the best in Perth. Their steaks are served with hand-cut chips, onion rings, mushrooms, greens and your choice of sauce—mushroom, red wine jus and blue cheese, to name a few.

TOMA

Perth

TOMA is the casual fine dining restaurant tucked inside Pirate Life Perth, a brewpub sitting on Murray Street in the CBD. While Pirate Life is known for their craft beers, TOMA has become famous for their aptly named TOMAhawk (it is the inspiration for the restaurant's name, after all)—a beastly piece of meat cooked on their custom woodfire grill. Ethan says the TOMAhawk is “top-notch”, while Kelsie thinks the meat is “so tasty and cooked perfectly.” If you're not up for the TOMAhawk, they also serve sirloin, ribeye and T-bone cuts, and you can also opt to chuck a whole lobster tail on top of your steak too.

Rockpool Bar & Grill

Burswood

You guys reckon Neil Perry’s steak still well and truly lives up to its reputation at Perth’s crown jewel of all things grilled, Rockpool. All steak is dry-aged on the premise, sourced from the best producers in Australia so you'd hope it was good. While you’re looking upwards of $65 for a plate of the grass-fed fillet (and some of the finer cuts reach closer to the $200 mark), you know it’ll be one of the finest steaks you’ve ever cut into.

The Meat & Wine Co

Perth

With an entire section of the menu dedicated to steak, plenty of meat-filled good times are to be had at The Meat & Wine Co. There are loads of sauces to choose from, including hot African chilli, blue cheese, creamy garlic and veal jus, and each dish is served with chips or fresh salad.

Coventry Pavillion

Morley

One of the newbies to the Morley foodie scene, Coventry Pavillion uses their Spanish charcoal oven to sling tomahawk steaks alongside blue cheese butter and port wine shallots. For another good meaty option, get your chompers around the 400g tri-tip steak served with salsa verde.

Shadow Wine Bar

Northbridge

Tucked next to The Alex Hotel, Shadow Wine Bar in Northbridge offers classic Euro dining and a moreish wine list. Order the skirt steak with ravigote sauce confit potato, and pair it with your grape of choice—it’ll be hard to choose, as they have pages upon pages of Australian and international wines to choose from.

Peasants Paradice

Perth

This cute eatery on Brisbane Street focuses on bold flavours which stem from all over the world, so expect spices, salads and sauces that originate from Asia, India, the Middle East and more. Right now though, we’re all about that flank steak, served with chimichurri, kasundi, charred broccolini and crushed potatoes and paired of course with a glass from their wine list.

Besk

West Leederville

Tucked off Railway Parade in leafy West Leederville, Besk’s kitchen is dishing up seasonal grub alongside a considered selection of beers, wines and spirits. Their char-grilled sirloin comes with roast paprikas, capers, goat’s curd, herb salad, and chimichurri, so no wonder you love it. Not only is this cut of meat is organic, but it’s sourced locally from the Wheatbelt town of Dandaragan. Fresh as can be.

Cooee

Perth

Sitting on the banks of the Swan River beneath Kings Park, picturesque Cooee serves us meat-lovers perfectly cooked sirloin steak with buttermilk, eschalots and gem leaf. Try and grab a seat outside so you can soak up the sunshine or glittering views of the city while you dig into the meaty goodness.
